1
ואמר אלישע קבילו פתגמא דיי כדנן אמר יי כעדנא הדין מחר סאה סולתא בסלעא וסאתן סעורין בסלעא בתרע דשמרון:
dshmrwn bthre bslea sewryn wsathn bslea swltha sah mkhr hdyn kedna yy amr kdnn dyy pthgma qbylw alyshe wamr
Elisha said, “Hear Yahweh’s word. Yahweh says, ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour will be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.’”

ואתיב גברא דמלכא דסמיך על ידוהי ית נביא דיי ואמר אילו יי פתח כוין ומחית טובא מן שמיא היהי פתגמא הדין ואמר הא את חזי בעינך ומתמן לא תיכול:
thykwl la wmthmn beynk khzy ath ha wamr hdyn pthgma hyhy shmya mn Twba wmkhyth kwyn pthkh yy aylw wamr dyy nbya yth ydwhy el dsmyk dmlka gbra wathyb
Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, “Behold, if Yahweh made windows in heaven, could this thing be?” He said, “Behold, you will see it with your eyes, but will not eat of it.”

וארבעה גברין הוו סגירין יתבין במעלנא דתרעא ואמרו גבר לחבריה מא אנחנא יתבין כא עד דנמות:
dnmwth ed ka ythbyn ankhna ma lkhbryh gbr wamrw dthrea bmelna ythbyn sgyryn hww gbryn warbeh
Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate. They said to one another, “Why do we sit here until we die?

אם נימר ניעול לקרתא וכפנא בקרתא ונמות תמן ואם נתיב הכא ונמות וכען אתו ונשתמע למשרית ארם אם יחיוננא ונחי אם יקטלוננא ונתקטיל:
wnthqTyl yqTlwnna am wnkhy ykhywnna am arm lmshryth wnshthme athw wken wnmwth hka nthyb wam thmn wnmwth bqrtha wkpna lqrtha nyewl nymr am
If we say, ‘We will enter into the city,’ then the famine is in the city, and we will die there. If we sit still here, we also die. Now therefore come, and let’s surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they save us alive, we will live; and if they kill us, we will only die.”

וקמו בקבלא למיעל למשרית ארם ואתו עד סיפי משרית ארם והא לית תמן אנש:

They rose up in the twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians. When they had come to the outermost part of the camp of the Syrians, behold, no man was there.

ומן קדם יי אשתמע למשרית ארם קל רתיכין קל סוסון קל משרין סגיאן ואמרו גבר לחבריה הא אגר עלנא מלכא דישראל ית מלכי חתאי וית מלכי מצראי למיתי עלנא:
elna lmythy mtsray mlky wyth khthay mlky yth dyshral mlka elna agr ha lkhbryh gbr wamrw sgyan mshryn ql swswn ql rthykyn ql arm lmshryth ashthme yy qdm wmn
For the Lord had made the army of the Syrians to hear the sound of chariots and the sound of horses, even the noise of a great army; and they said to one another, “Behold, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us.”

וקמו וערקו בקבלא ושבקו ית משכניהון וית סוסותהון וית חמריהון במשריתא כמא דהיא וערקו לשיזבא נפשיהון:
npshyhwn lshyzba werqw dhya kma bmshrytha khmryhwn wyth swswthhwn wyth mshknyhwn yth wshbqw bqbla werqw wqmw
Therefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, their horses, and their donkeys, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

ואתו סגיריא האלין עד סיפי משריתא ועלו למשכנא חד ואכלו ושתיאו ונסיבו מתמן כספא ודהבא ולבושין ואזלו ואטמרו ותבו ועלו למשכנא אוחרנא ונסיבו מתמן ואזלו ואטמרו:
waTmrw wazlw mthmn wnsybw awkhrna lmshkna welw wthbw waTmrw wazlw wlbwshyn wdhba kspa mthmn wnsybw wshthyaw waklw khd lmshkna welw mshrytha sypy ed halyn sgyrya wathw
When these lepers came to the outermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and ate and drank, then carried away silver, gold, and clothing and went and hid it. Then they came back, and entered into another tent and carried things from there also, and went and hid them.

ואמרו גבר לחבריה לא כשר מה דאנחנא עבדין יומא הדין יום בסורא הוא ואלו אנחנא שתקין ומורבין עד ניהור צפרא ויערעיננא חובא וכען איתו ונתמטי ונחוי בית מלכא:
mlka byth wnkhwy wnthmTy aythw wken khwba wyereynna tspra nyhwr ed wmwrbyn shthqyn ankhna walw hwa bswra ywm hdyn ywma ebdyn dankhna mh kshr la lkhbryh gbr wamrw
Then they said to one another, “We aren’t doing right. Today is a day of good news, and we keep silent. If we wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come, let’s go and tell the king’s household.”

ואתו וקרו לנטרי תרע קרתא וחויאו להון למימר אתינא למשרית ארם והא לית תמן גבר וקל אנש אלהין סוסון אסירין וחמרין אסירין ומשכנין כמא דאינון:
daynwn kma wmshknyn asyryn wkhmryn asyryn swswn alhyn ansh wql gbr thmn lyth wha arm lmshryth athyna lmymr lhwn wkhwyaw qrtha thre lnTry wqrw wathw
So they came and called to the city gatekeepers; and they told them, “We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, not even a man’s voice, but the horses tied, and the donkeys tied, and the tents as they were.”

וקרא נטרי תרעא וחויאו בית מלכא לגיו:
lgyw mlka byth wkhwyaw threa nTry wqra
Then the gatekeepers called out and told it to the king’s household within.

וקם מלכא בליליא ואמר לעבדוהי אחוי כען לכון ית דעבדו לנא אנש ארם ידעין ארי כפנין אנחנא ונפקו מן משריתא לאטמרא בחקלא למימר אם יפקון מן קרתא וניחודונון כד חיין ולקרתא ניעול:
nyewl wlqrtha khyyn kd wnykhwdwnwn qrtha mn ypqwn am lmymr bkhqla laTmra mshrytha mn wnpqw ankhna kpnyn ary ydeyn arm ansh lna debdw yth lkwn ken akhwy lebdwhy wamr blylya mlka wqm
The king arose in the night, and said to his servants, “I will now show you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we are hungry. Therefore they have gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, ‘When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive, and get into the city.’”

ואתיב חד מעבדוהי ואמר וידברון כען חמשא מן סוסותא מן שארא דאשתארו בה הא אינון ככל המונא דישראל דאשתארו בה אם יבדון הא אינון ככל המונא דישראל דספו ונשלח ונחזי:
wnkhzy wnshlkh dspw dyshral hmwna kkl aynwn ha ybdwn am bh dashtharw dyshral hmwna kkl aynwn ha bh dashtharw shara mn swswtha mn khmsha ken wydbrwn wamr mebdwhy khd wathyb
One of his servants answered, “Please let some people take five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are left in it. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are consumed. Let’s send and see.”

ודברו תרין רכבי סוסין ושלח מלכא בתר משרית ארם למימר אזילו וחזו:
wkhzw azylw lmymr arm mshryth bthr mlka wshlkh swsyn rkby thryn wdbrw
Therefore they took two chariots with horses; and the king sent them out to the Syrian army, saying, “Go and see.”

ואזלו בתריהון עד ירדנא והא כל אורחא מליא לבושין ומנין דרמו אנש ארם באתבעותהון למערק ותבו אזגדיא וחויאו למלכא:
lmlka wkhwyaw azgdya wthbw lmerq bathbewthhwn arm ansh drmw wmnyn lbwshyn mlya awrkha kl wha yrdna ed bthryhwn wazlw
They went after them to the Jordan; and behold, all the path was full of garments and equipment which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. The messengers returned and told the king.

ונפק עמא ובזו ית משרית ארם והוה סאה סולתא בסלעא וסאתן סעורין בסלעא כפתגמא דיי:
dyy kpthgma bslea sewryn wsathn bslea swltha sah whwh arm mshryth yth wbzw ema wnpq
The people went out and plundered the camp of the Syrians. So a seah of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to Yahweh’s word.

ומלכא מני ית גברא דסמיך על ידוהי על תרעא ודשוהי עמא בתרעא ומית כמא דמליל נביא דיי דמליל כד נחת מלכא לותיה:
lwthyh mlka nkhth kd dmlyl dyy nbya dmlyl kma wmyth bthrea ema wdshwhy threa el ydwhy el dsmyk gbra yth mny wmlka
The king had appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to be in charge of the gate; and the people trampled over him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him.

והוה כד מליל נביא דיי עם מלכא למימר סאתן סעורין בסלעא וסאה סולתא בסלעא יהי כעדנא הדין מחר בתרעא דשמרון:
dshmrwn bthrea mkhr hdyn kedna yhy bslea swltha wsah bslea sewryn sathn lmymr mlka em dyy nbya mlyl kd whwh
It happened as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, “Two seahs of barley for a shekel, and a seah of fine flour for a shekel, shall be tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria;”

ואתיב גברא ית נביא דיי ואמר ואלו יי פתח כוין ומחית טובא מן שמיא היהי כפתגמא הדין ואמר הא את חזי בעינך ומתמן לא תיכול:
thykwl la wmthmn beynk khzy ath ha wamr hdyn kpthgma hyhy shmya mn Twba wmkhyth kwyn pthkh yy walw wamr dyy nbya yth gbra wathyb
and that captain answered the man of God, and said, “Now, behold, if Yahweh made windows in heaven, might such a thing be?” and he said, “Behold, you will see it with your eyes, but will not eat of it.”
